Praise in All Seasons
Jayme Wright, Teaching Coordinator

Seasons. They come and they go. Some of them are great, and some of them just plain suck. But through them all, God provides us with the people, the family, the friends, and a community to get us through it all.

During summer, our good season, we oftentimes miss or forget God’s goodness, or just forget to thank Him for all that He has done. When life is good, we should want to give Him all of the praise and glory! Reminding our kids that it’s through God that we are blessed and loved beyond a shadow of a doubt. And that praise should come very easily to us!

“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise - the fruit of lips that openly profess His name.”

Hebrews 13:15

In our fall seasons, when God is asking us to step out of our comfort zone and sometimes do things that we wouldn’t touch with a 10 foot pole, how do we lean into that? How do we trust that He is still a good Father and will be faithful and catch us as we are walking into the unknown? Time and time again, we see in the Bible God’s faithfulness to those He called to trust in Him and the work He called them to. And as moms, it can be hard. Those leaps of faith don’t always feel wise or the right choice, but again, look at all of God’s goodness and blessings He provides His people when He calls them to trust Him and they obey! And we should give Him praise for those times! Even though it can be hard!

In our winter seasons, life is unbearable. Pain surges through our bodies and all we want to do is fall on our faces and cry. We feel broken and confused. We can’t seem to see God or His goodness anywhere. And it becomes hard to praise Him. He understands and He hears our prayers. God understands how we feel and He is NOT afraid of our feelings! They are things we can openly share with Him and He wants to be there for His children. God cares for us SO deeply, that even though we are walking through a tough time, He wants to be with us! And it’s at these times He is more than likely the one who is carrying us through it all! He is the one that stays by our side. He doesn’t leave us and say, “You are too broken and too far gone for me to love you.” As a matter of fact, He loves us too much to let us go anywhere. And even when we walk away, He stays and waits for us. And even though it is really hard to praise Him in those times, He should be the first one we go to for advice, wisdom and loving arms to run to.

When it’s time for spring, it’s time for pruning. And this process can be painful, but absolutely beautiful! This is the time that God is making all things new! He is asking you to bear good fruit and share what He has blessed you with! To trust the pruning process. To let Him shape and mold you into His BEAUTIFUL masterpiece and to bear that fruit as a loving mom and share that fruit among other moms! To sharpen one another in truth and pray for one another through it all! This may mean letting go and maybe even getting rid of relationships that aren’t honoring God. And that’s hard. That’s the hard part of pruning. But trust in His process and you will see His fruit grow in ways you may not even imagine!

Know that you guys are prayed over, loved and seen here at MOMS. No matter what season you are in!
